Senior Year CSU Homecoming, GO RAMS!
I had to brush up on the CSU fight song before we headed to Ft. Collins to spend Homecoming weekend with Halle and Owen. We had such a fun time. Pretty sure mostly what we did was ate delicious food. Friday night, we settled into our hotel and then picked up Halle and Owen at her apartment, where we went to the Emporium and devoured an exceptionally good cheeseboard. And cheesecake. You shall see a theme emerge. We weren’t quite ready to end the night after dinner so we took Ed for a night time walk around City Park.
The next morning, CSU was holding a No Kings Rally. I was definitely intrigued, and after seeing that it was only about three blocks from our cute hotel, The Armstrong, I roused Rusty from his relaxing bath and convinced him to come with me. And we are both so glad we did. It was SO COOL. It felt so patriotic and was a good reminder that there is an overwhelming amount of good in the world if we choose to see it. The prevailing chant was “Love, not hate — That’s what makes America Great.” And….the signs. Did some of them cross a line? Yes. Were most of them extremely clever and hilarious? Yes. We stationed ourselves near the front of the parade route and watched everyone march by. We joined what we thought was near the end of the line and marched for a little bit until it was time for brunch. We were very wrong–we were nowhere near the end of the crowd. It stretched for almost 1.5 miles. Rusty and I both got a little teary at times. It was amazing to be part of this cultural moment and I’m so glad we did it.

Brunch was at The Farmhouse at Jessup Farm. Our favorite thing was a goat cheese bruschetta dip. It was DIVINE. Cheese for the win, again! This place was so charming, I hope we get to come back and try dinner.
Rusty and I had been invited to the Hewitt’s family sealing to T, but we both forgot to bring dress clothes. We hit the thrift store and found something decent to wear and then changed in the back corner of the temple parking lot. It was quite hilarious. My dress was a little bosomy for the temple so I kept my jacket on. What a special moment to be a part of their family sealing–T’s smile was so big and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

Next up was the Trunk-or-Treat at the Wildlife Center. They did such a great job! It was massive, and the local businesses had such fun trunks. We got to hold a few snakes and to see where Halle has spent so much time volunteering. I’m so glad this event was going on – it gave us an excuse to go see!

Now the moment we’ve all been waiting for….CSU football. Just kidding. No one is excited for CSU football. Womp Womp. 4 years later, and the team is no better than when Halle was a freshman marching with the band. Perhaps they were even worse. But, the nostalgia! Walking through Canvas Stadium, reminiscing about the band days, was so much fun. After half time, we needed a break so we walked around and got a pretzel the size of a small dog. We tried to come back to watch the end of the game, but it was just too terrible. We couldn’t do it. We left at the 4th quarter. Final score was 31-19 for Hawaii. I can’t believe that in the entire weekend, this is the only picture of the 4 of us.

We had so much fun with Halle and Owen we didn’t want the weekend to end! But alas–they had homework to get to, and we needed to get home to Blake. I’m so proud of my little Ram and all the amazing things she has done in her college years at CSU.
