Halle turns 20!

Halle,
You are TWO DECADES old! It’s so exciting. Here’s just some of the things you did in your last year as a teenager. Finished up the season with the CSU Marching Band. Took your first ever college finals, saw Pentatonix and Ruel, marched in the Parade of Lights, crossed 5 states off your bucket list, finished your Freshman year and moved out of the dorms, ran the BB10k, took an impromptu girls trip to NYC with Steph and Averi, worked a summer internship at Greenwood while also working at Menchies, went coasteering and had a castle photoshoot, bet on a horse race, got Basil, moved into a new apartment, learned how to be a lab assistant, got lost while hiking and had to call dad to guide you back to the trail, applied to study abroad in Kenya, and many, many more! I love the big, exciting life you live!

It was so fun to get to see you on your birthday this year. You drove down and we had Minestrone soup (I sent you home with the leftovers and someone ate them!) and caramel apple cheesecake bars. They were DELICIOUS. Then, we got to go see Angie perform in 9 to 5 at CU. We loved cheering her on, and the cast did a great job. Later that weekend some church friends hosted a sushi making birthday celebration. Fun!

One quote I read this year that really stuck with me is from a happiness author, Shawn Anchor. He said, “Happiness is the joy we feel striving toward our potential.” I loved this! He didn’t say, “happiness is when everything goes right.” Or, “happiness comes after we achieve our goals.” It’s in the striving. I see this in you a lot. You are working so hard and making good things happen in your life. And that kind of work brings happiness. You are setting yourself up for great things, and I’m so happy to be along for the ride. I love you MOST!

Love, Mom
