June 2026 Recap

I got to go to Camp Batel again this year! Yay! I just love this place. The weather wasn’t super awesome, but we were able to do everything we wanted to do. This is also the first year of the little cabins. I wasn’t totally sold on these until the night after a huge rainstorm when everyone was dry, and slept well. Game changer!

Rusty and Blake got to go to high adventure in WY. They were not so lucky with the tent situation, and Blake and Brody ended up sleeping in Bishop’s van the last night. It rained so hard! Blake and Brody also went shirtless the entire camp. On the way home Rusty and Blake had to stop and charge the car, so they went shopping at Ross and got matching t-shirts

Teddy Bear Picnic! Halle, Owen and Gwen were awesome to come to our picnic. We had such a fun time making teddy bear pizza and our own teddy bear trail mix. Even Dash and Ed got to come to the party!

Clarie’s farewell! The Rowberry family experienced a sudden tragedy, as Erika passed away at their family reunion in St. George. It was pretty overwhelming, and so we gals did what we do best–banded together to throw Claire a going away party. It was a blast and so many people came to show this girl all the love and she heads to Brazil.

Blake and I got home and I was putting things away and I went in the garage and jumped because there was a Huge snake, probably five feet long, coiled up in our garage. It wasn’t moving because it was caught in one of those stupid glue traps that the pest company puts out, even though I told them not to. It had just coiled around the glue trap as it got caught. So I thought it was dead and I called Blake to help me get rid of the snake, assuming we would just scoop it up and throw it into the trash. As I went to nudge it with the shovel, it started moving and to hear Blake tell the story I screamed and must have jumped ten feet. But it did surprise me. So now we had a live snake caught in a glue trap in our garage. I assumed we just had to put it out of its misery. And we would have to whack it with the shovel. But neither of us were looking forward to that. So before we did that, I asked AI if it was possible to save a snake from a glue trap. And it said, yes, but the process involved getting Vegetable oil and q-tips, and then carefully applying the vegetable oil to the belly of the snake until it Dissolves the glue and the snake can go free. To his credit, Blake was all over this. He went inside and grabbed the q-tips and some vegetable oil, and then we got to work where we were. Bending down and carefully swabbing the belly of a snake with vegetable oil, which is a sentence I thought I would never write and thing I never thought I would do in my life. But it worked like a charm so much that when we got the head free, the head started zooming around and hissing at us and scaring me. We had put the snake in a box for this part. But when we got it mostly free, the snake just stood up Like they do in the cartoons with the snake charmer and hopped over the side of the box like it was nothing. But I was worried now that it would just get stuck in our garage. So I grabbed the snake by the tail and brought it over to The garden and luckily the very last of the trap fell off at the same time that it plopped into the garden. And that’s the story of how we oiled up a snake and saved it from a glue trap.
