Coogee to Bondi Beach Walk
We took a subway, tram and bus to get to Coogee beach. This was such a fun and pretty spot. The boys couldn’t wait to get in the water and play in the waves. We had so much ground to cover that sadly, we couldn’t stay long.
Gordon’s Bay was next. Instead of setting towels on the sand, everyone sits in the rocks surrounding the bay. Halle had a blast watching all the cute little crabs scuttle along the rocks. The boys went out and did some snorkeling. They didn’t see much, but had fun trying.
We skipped the next bay for time reasons and moved on to the most scenic cemetery in the world and Bronte Baths. I so wanted to go for a swim in the baths, but we were running short on time to make it to the boy’s surf lesson on time. After a sweltering last mile to Bondi beach, we finally made it. What a fun and beautiful walk!
We wolfed down fish and chips from the Take Away spot at the Promenade and got the boys to their surf lesson. The both did really well. Josh was catching waves like a pro. Then it started to POUR. Their instructor kept them out there and didn’t miss a beat. It was pretty sweet to see them out there with the rain pelting the water and lightening going off in the background. After about 1.5 hours, Blake was DONE. He came out and practically collapsed in the sand. He has been working and shivering so hard. Josh stayed in until the very last wave. Poor Halle was under our umbrella trying to keep herself and all our stuff dry. It was a futile effort.
We packed up, came home and showered (taking turns in our one bathroom) then made our way to the Chinatown Friday Night Street market. This was a delicious diversion. We ate tons of food including pot stickers, soup dumplings, chicken skewers, cream puffs from the famous Emperor’s shop, the hard shelled strawberries, Dragon’s beard candy, and to top it all off—a bubble waffle with mango ice cream. Rusty found a claw machine arcade and we had fun not winning a single thing. Josh bought Blake his Christmas present—a necklace with a gamblers logo. 🤷♀️ Blake is convinced it will bring us all the luck we need.
