Sydney, Australia
We flew straight past Christmas and landed in Sydney on the 26th. Our Airbnb host was kind enough to let us come early and drop bags and freshen up a bit. Then we down to Circular Quay to get our first views of Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. It was SO stunning and none of us could believe we were actually there! The Sydney skyline is so impressive.
We did the opera house tour. And we’re glad we did. It was a bit long, but the inside is worth seeing. It’s so much more utilitarian than I imagined. We got to learn about the architect (who left the job before it was finished amid political turmoil and never saw the finished building with his own eyes. That’s so sad!
We had lunch at the food court at Circular Quay. We had sushi, schnitzel, chicken wrap and an açaí bowl. Yum!

Next up—Walking over harbor bridge. We were sad that we barely missed the chance to go to the top of the pylon. The posted hours said it was open till 4. But they stop letting people up at 3:30. We got there at 3:35. Booooo
On the other side we got some ice cream and enjoyed the beautiful harbor views. We walked through creepy Luna Park and took a Ferry back to the other side.

Dinner at….. Rusty’s chicken was atop the biggest, spiciest pile of of peppers I’d ever seen. Blake LOVED his prawns. That will become a theme of the trip.

We hit the hay and surprisingly, everyone slept great! That’s unusual the night after a mega time change. We even had to wake Halle up after she’s been asleep 12 hours.
