Josh goes to the temple
After we got Josh moved out of the dorms, we hit up the BYU bookstore to get all the stuff he would need for the temple. But they didn’t have any pants in his size. So, we then went to the Orem Desert Book. Also no luck. The next day we hit up the AF Desert Book. No dice. Then, in all the chaos of the tennis lights and highland house projects, we forgot all about the need for pants. On Friday night, after we went to This is the Place, we decided to stop by and see the lights at Temple Square really quickly. Luckily, we walked past the City Creek Deseret Book, and remembered we needed pants! We went in, and FINALLY, we scored! That was lucky–pretty sure we would have shown up to the temple not even remembering we didn’t have pants. And, so fun to see the lights again! And….the giant crane lifting port-a-potties down from the roof of the temple. Not a sight you expect to see.

Sat, Dec 20th, everything went smoothly. It was so special to have Josh receive his endowment in the same place where both Rusty and I received ours. I haven’t been to a Utah temple in many years and I forgot how BIG they are. That is a serious operation they are running! It made me grateful for our small, beautiful Ft. Collins temple. Having Grandma and Grandpa there with us was the icing on the cake.

The temple ceremony has lots of repetition and sometimes it’s hard to keep track of where you are. There is a section that discusses having no unworthy or impure thoughts. My mom turns to me and says, “Didn’t we just do that??” And I was so confused. My brain went to “didn’t we just have unworthy and impure thoughts?” I gave her the funniest look and said, “No…..I don’t think so…” And then it hit me like 10 minutes later that she was referring to the repetition….not the unworthy and impure thoughts. And then I couldn’t stop giggling.

I got to do the prayer circle with Josh, and then meeting up in the Celestial Room felt so good. There is so much peace and love in the temple and I’m so glad that Josh gets to experience it. We were all starving, so we got many tacos at Jurassic Taco. How have we never been there before? So good.

What a day! These past 4 months have been filled with firsts both for Josh and our family. And they just keep coming as we march ever closer to his becoming a missionary!
