Cousins come for a visit

I spent the better part of 4 hours blogging on the plane ride to and from New York only to have the app crash and lose EVERYTHING.  I was so mad!  So, you’ll just have to image all the fun details and cute stories I told about the kids and their antics and make do with a few pictures and the highlights.  Because there is no way that I am ever going to redo all those posts.

Carlie, Gwen and Mave came for a visit and we loved laughing at Gwen’s hilarious mouth and kissing on baby Mave’s wonderful cheeks.

Carlie and I took Jane and Gwen to the Children’s Museum.  They loved it!

One morning I let Halle skip school and we went on a walk down the dirt path by our house.  We saw prairie dogs and had a great time throwing sticking into the stream.  I checked the boys out at lunchtime and we all had a picnic at Waneka Lake.  It was such a nice warm day the kids couldn’t resist jumping in the water.

Just a few weeks later Nat and the boys came out over Mother’s Day weekend.  The weather was pretty nasty with a mega hailstorm on Sat, but we managed to get out and do a few fun things.

We went the the Edelweiss Alpaca Farm and even though it was freezing, the kids had fun feeding the Alpacas and learning more about them.

We took the kids to the Compassion experience at a church in Boulder. There were different rooms set up to mimic the living and working spaces of children in destitute parts of the world.  I wasn’t super impressed…it felt a little gimmicky to me, but the kids seemed to enjoy themselves.  We decided to give them the largest contrast possible.  Extreme Poverty to Whole Foods in Boulder. I needed to grab a few things for dinner the next day and the kids got to choose 10 candies from the bulk bins.  Of course, no one chose 10 of the same candy so we checked out with a million bags filled with like 3 pieces of candy each.

We had fun burning energy at the park on Sunday morning and reading stories together every night.
