Josh Mission Email June 23 2026: “I’d like to use my credit card”
That’s right, I’m officially out of training and out of the Chinese area
🤯. I’ll be heading to an English speaking area for at least the next 6 weeks. Please tell me if you get that refrence from the title lol. It’s wild to know I won’t be using much Chinese for a little while, but I have full confidence that I am going where I am supposed to be. I’m a bit nervous that I’ll lose a lot of my Chinese, but I’ll still have time to study it each day. It’s been a good 2 transfers, I’ll be back here eventually so it’s not too hard to say goodbye at this point.
Probably the hardest part about leaving is that Tony and Emay are on date! They’ve been learning with the missionaries for the last 7 months and so I’ve been meeting with them for all of my mission. They’re super cool, they drive over 45 minutes each way to english class and church every week. They’re an older couple who started with no religious background and it’s been so cool to see them grow and change their lives. Depending on the time and where I end up, I should still be able to come to their baptism.
Greenie Exchange 🤑
This week we had exchanges and Elder Bennett and I were in the Chinese area for the day. Elder Bennett is still in his first transfer, so we had a fun day as a couple of greenies trying to do Chinese work. We had a lot of fun, had some funny interactions and conversations so it was a good day overall.
I have to pack today so here are some other highlights
my comp decided “cutting hair can’t be that hard” and he cut Elder Abbott and I’s hair. Honestly, it turned out pretty solid and it was free so good deal good deal.
We had a short walk turn into a few miles because there wasn’t a way through the forest on the way from the metro to one of our lessons. We were almost late to the lesson but we made it just in time. We had to get back for district council afterwards, but we were 20 miles away with no car because we took the metro down. We saw one of those bikeshare booths and so for about 15 minutes I got to experience the joy of being a biking missionary. Low key had a ton of fun because it was overcast and raining which was an awesome break from the heat. I feel for you guys in Taiwan though, we haven’t even hit peak humidity yet. Elder Abbott didn’t get a bike because the kiosk broke after the first 2 so he and Elder Evans shared a bike for the whole ride.

Hebrews 11:6
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Another super straight to the point scripture. Have faith! As you do, you’ll be able to see more clearly. The only way to pierce the fog sometimes is to step into it.
