Josh Mission Email May 12 2026: So many dads
Happy Tuesday everyone! P day got moved to today because transfers are tomorrow. I’ll be staying here in the Chinese area, but my companion will be leaving. I’ll be in a trio going forward, which should be pretty interesting. It’s pretty unusual to have training done in a trio, but we should be chilling. We have a lot to do to prep the apartment and for Elder Mecham to get ready to go, so this one is gonna be short.
Highlights:
Went to DC for lunch with one of our friends! Drivers in the city are even worse than out here in Maryland, but luckily it was too congested for them to make bad decisions at high speeds, so it was just a lot of people cutting each other off. We went to a cool hot dog place that was apparently a big civil rights hangout spot, it has a lot of really cool history.
Tried to translate for one of our new members while he bought a phone from Best Buy. I’m still pretty lost with the language, and my comp didn’t know random tech and phone company terms so it was rough. We got cornered by the ATandT guy instead of the best buy people and got stuck in a 30 minute unskipple cutscene while he tried to sell him on switching his provider.
We also went to the DMV with a member to help translate, and ran into probably the only DMV worker in existence who speaks Chinese so we didn’t even need to drive all the way out there.
Ran the Chinese area without my comp on exchanges! We didn’t have any lessons that day which was a blessing, and our member meal actually went well. It’s coming slowly but surely 😌.
Spiritual thought: Show some more love to your mom! My mom is one of the biggest influences on me, and I wouldn’t be half the man I am without her. Make sure your love and appeiciation is clear all the time, not just on mother’s day!
